President presents diplomas to Institute of Agro Technology and Rural Science graduates

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa Friday (17) presented Certificates of Diploma to the graduates of Colombo University's Institute of Agro Technology and Rural Science at a ceremony held at Weligatta in Hambantota.

This Institute under the University of Colombo was established at Weligatta in Hambanthota in 1999 under the Lunugamvehera Irrigation project. It aims to offer certificate, diploma, and later degree level programs on agro technology for the farming community.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is seen here inspecting the tissue culture Banana Laboratory and Tunnel Beds. Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Deputy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, and Vice Chancellor of Colombo University Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama were also present.
