Even as the noose tightens around the former Telecom Minister A Raja, DMK leader MK Stalin has come out in open support of the 2G spectrum scam embroiled minister. Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister on Sunday (December 26) said that opposition parties in the state were highlighting the issue to hit out at the DMK government.
Stalin's indirect support for Raja comes days after DMK supremo Karunanidhi had asked all his party workers to defend Raja.
"The Opposition is trying to wrongfoot the government by propagating disinformation to bring disrepute to the party among the people," he said at a public meeting at Palayamkottai.
Stalin also listed the slew of welfare schemes and achievements of the DMK government in the past four and half years.
This is the first time that DMK leader MK Stalin has spoken in support of A Raja. Significantly, Stalin's backing comes after party boss M Karunanidhi vociferously supported the tainted ex-minister virtually blanking out any dissidence in the party. The DMK has been trying to present a united front ahead of the State assembly polls.
