The decision to form an alliance between the Muslim and Tamil political parties will continue alongside the forum of Tamil political parties that is also in the process of preparing a set of proposals incorporating a political solution to the ethnic issue to hand over to the government.
General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Hassan Ali has told the media that the alliance will work together to formulate a solution.
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has also said that it was supportive of such an alliance.
