Litro Gas, former Shell Gas that turned into a state-owned enterprise of Sri Lanka has sought permission of the Consumer Affairs Authority to increase the price of LP gas.
The second player in the gas market of Sri Lanka, Laugfs Gas has also asked for an increase, sources say.
The rise of gas prices in international markets is cited as the reason for the request of price increase.
The committee for LP gas price adjustment is to meet this week. However, the gas prices were not increased at previous bimonthly price revision in November. The next price adjustment is scheduled in January.
