Japanese parliamentary delegation calls on Sri Lankan President

A delegation of Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association parliamentary group led by its president Hirofumi Hirano, a member of the House of Representative of Japanese government met Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today.


During their meeting the President has said that economic relations between Japan and Sri Lanka should be strengthened diverting the cultural and religious ties to a new course.


The group has discussed the establishment of Japanese investment zones adjoining Sri Lankan harbours with President and the President has appraised the delegation of Sri Lanka's future development plans.
Acknowledging the assistance given by Japanese government for Sri Lanka's development, President Rajapaksa has extended an invitation for the Japanese Prime Minister and high-ranking government officials to visit Sri Lanka.
Ven. Suduhumpola Wimalasara Thera,Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva Luxman Yapa Abeywardena, Mervyn Silva, Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Kunio Takahashi were also present at the meeting.
