Sri Lanka's Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) has taken measures to introduce new software to prevent children from accessing websites with adult content.
"Steps will be taken to introduce software in the near future to prevent children from accessing such websites," the Director General of the TRC Anusha Palpita told media.
The regulatory authority has reportedly sought the assistance of the computer unit at the University of Colombo to implement the measure.
Following an order by the Colombo Juvenile Court, the TRC has taken measures to block over 700 such websites.
The TRC has said that it had informed the internet service providers in writing on the latest measures.
Following a report filed by the Women and Children Unit of the Police in August this year, the Juvenile Court ordered the TRC to ban 107 porn websites and local movies with adult content.
