Sri Lanka Police deploy team to crack down on heroin mafia at Dambulla Economic Center

The Sri Lanka Police has deployed a police team to the Dambulla Economic Center (DEC) to maintain security due to disputes among the traders and to look into the alleged irregularities at the Center.

The local media quoted the police as saying that at least 25 policemen have been stationed at the DEC on the directions of Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne.

DEC officials have told the media that the move comes following reports of a clandestine heroin mafia inside the Center that is operated by a top apple businessman who has wide reaching connections with regional politicians and others.
