Sri Lanka Muslim Congress to sit in the government side from today

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress has officially crossed over to the government side during today's parliamentary sessions.

The leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Rauff Hakeem who was just sworn-in as the Minister of Justice has told the government media that all the eight parliamentarians of SLMC will sit with the government during the presentation of the 2011 Budget this afternoon.
At the last general election the SLMC contested under the main opposition United National Party (UNP) led opposition alliance United National Front and won 8 seats.

The party has been offered one ministerial and a deputy ministerial portfolio in the new cabinet.

SLMC Chairman Basheer Segu Dawood was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Cooperative and Internal Trade this morning.
