Tamil Nadu is gearing up to celebrate the Pongal festival in the second week of January and Kollywood filmmakers are trying to make their most to capitalize on the festive season. Many films producers and directors in the Tamil film industry have decided to postpone release dates for movies which were supposed to hit theaters in the month of December to January.
However, this is true for only the big budget movies. On the other hand, some small films have decided to bring forward their release dates because they do not want to compete with the biggies at the box office. In spite of it, 3 big films are lined up for release in December.
The second version of Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Raktha Charitram’ will hit screens on the 3rd of December. Also releasing are the Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ and the much-delayed ‘Chikku Bhukku’.
The Vijay – Asin starrer ‘Kaavalan’ has landed in trouble over overseas distribution rights and therefore has to abide by the orders of the Madras High Court which has stalled the film’s release in countries other than India by six weeks. While ‘Kaavalan’ may safely be released in India in December as scheduled, reports claim that it has also been postponed to the Pongal slot.
