Man selling fake gems for 20 years nabbed

The Chilaw Police has arrest a person who has hoaxed people to buy counterfeit gemstones for the past 20 years. The suspect had sold the fake gems to buyers by proclaiming that they were highly valuable and that they were obtained from hidden treasures, police revealed.
A batch of fake gems was also found in the possession of the suspect at the time of the arrest and was also taken to police custody. According to the police the person had sold these phony gemstones for prices ranging from Rs.200, 000 to Rs.500, 000 each.

When the suspect had been questioned by police officers following the arrest he had revealed that the fake gems had been purchased from a certain location in Colombo. Police are conducting extensive investigations on the matter.
