Court issues notice on respondents over Sri Lanka student union leader's bail application

A Sri Lankan court today heard the bail application filed by the Convener of the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) affiliated Inter University Federation (IUSF) Udul Premaratne.

The Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundara today issued notice on the respondents of Premaratne's application for bail.

Colombo High Court will take up the application on Friday (26).

Premaratne was arrested last month for allegedly breaking into the Higher Education Ministry premises and causing damage to public property during a protest.
