Sri Lanka's former Chief Justice to sign petition calling for former Army Commander's release

Sri Lanka's controversial former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva is to sign the public petition demanding the release of former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Leader Sarath Fonseka on Monday (25).
.The petition was initiated by the Marxist JVP and it has been taken around the country to the districts to collect signatures.
Silva is expected to attend a public event after signing the petition.
The petition has been signed by opposition politicians, trade unionists, civil society organizations, professionals and the general public.
The petition is to be handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa after completing the collection of signatures.
