Addressing a gathering at the Temple Trees today as the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony of the Programme to Improve Positive Attitudes of Sri Lankans towards creating a noble society with economic development, the President said the goal of transforming Sri Lanka as the Wonder of Asia will not be a tough sell if the officials would not show reluctance towards efficient public service.
The programme has plans to incite nationalistic ideals and strengthen the solidarity between the people and the environment.
Under the programme 12 government institutions including key ministries will implement short-term and long-term projects in the next three years.
The President urged all elements of the public service including the Executive President to be committed to spearhead the country towards prosperity.
This ceremony was organized by the Prime Minister's office Venerable Maha Sangha, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne, ministers, parliamentarians, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge, Secretary to the Prime Minister S. Amarasekara, government officers and University Students also participated.
