The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Central Range Pujitha Jayasundara told the media that Ramanayake had allegedly committed a fraud amounting to Rs. 1 million from a woman he promised to marry.
A female teacher from a school in Kandy had lodged a complaint with the police about the alleged financial fraud committed by Ramanayake.
Ramanayake was produced before the Kandy Magistrate and his anticipatory bail application has been rejected by the court.
