Sri Lanka government is recruiting over 2,500 teachers for government schools.

Out of 2,573 teachers to be recruited, 410 have been selected by the competitive examination held recently to recruit teachers to teach science subjects in government schools.

The new recruits are currently undergoing a special training at the Peradeniya Teacher Training School.

The remaining teachers are trainees graduated from the National Colleges of Education.

The Education Ministry says they will be recruited to national and provincial schools.

The handing over of appointment letters to these new teachers will take place at the Temple Trees under the patronage of the President tomorrow afternoon to mark the World Teachers' Day.
