Managing Director of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau wins TOYP 2010 award

Managing Director of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Dileep Mudadeniya was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of the Year at the TOYP Awards held on 6 October.

This was the 26th Edition of the TOYP Awards organized by the Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka in partnership with HSBC. It is after almost 27 years that a TOYP award has been given to a full time officer in the public sector.
Mudadeniya is a strong advocate of Nation Branding, and was selected with nine others from various fields such as Economic Accomplishment, Academic Leadership, Contribution to Arts and Culture, Environmental Leadership, Humanitarian and Voluntary Service, Technological Development, Medical Research, Personal Accomplishment and Personal Improvement.
The Award for Economic Accomplishment was received by Dr. Priyantha Wickrama, Chairman, Sri Lanka Port Authority while Mahela Jayawardena received the award for his contribution to sports.
Mudadeniya joined the public sector in 1999 and possesses 18 years of experience in travel, tourism, communications, and strategic planning. His experience has been very challenging including two airport attacks and the tsunami.
Several of his key achievements include reorganizing the Marketing Division of the SLTPB to a dynamic unit, by which he encouraged public and private sector partnership to take Sri Lanka to the world. He further established a strategic marketing plan and introduced social network and digital marketing to Sri Lanka Tourism.
He was also instrumental in the creation of promotional material that won the PATA Gold Award 2010. He was also responsible for the launch of many campaigns taking Sri Lanka out into the world.
