Wild jumbos disrupt normal life of a major economic center in Sri Lanka

A herd of wild elephants has wreaked havoc in Dambulla town in the early hours of today bringing a nightmare to the urban area.

Police and wildlife officials have toiled for hours in the morning to chase the herd of elephants back to the jungle.

However, the elephants have reportedly fled to a village called Pahalagama around 300 meters away from the town.

Dambulla is a Central Province town where a nerve economic center is located. The town also has an international cricket stadium and an ancient rock temple which is a major tourist attraction of the country.

People are still in fear of danger and expect urgent action from the authorities.
