A team of EC and UN representatives to visit East on a review mission

A team consisting of the European Commission and UN officials is to visit the Eastern Province tomorrow (14) to review the progress of the EU funded projects in the area.
United Nations Resident Coordinator, Neil Buhne and the Head of Operations, European Union and delegation to Sri Lanka and Maldives and Chief Consultant Willy Vandenberghe are scheduled to head the team on its three-day visit to the Eastern Province.

The team is to reportedly also review the resettlement programs funded by them as well as other rehabilitation projects in the Province.

Although the visit was due to take place in July, it was postponed due to issues related to the appointment of a panel to probe alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
