A Sri Lankan court Friday released three senior Army officers and a journalist who were arrested for allegedly conspiring against the government with former Army Commander retired General Sarath Fonseka.
The Colombo Magistrate today discharged Major General Upali Edirisinghe, Major General Sunil Silva, Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana and journalist Ruwan Weerakoon.
The CID had submitted a report to the additional Magistrate Mahi Wijeweera informing courts that they would not be proceeding with the case following advice from the Attorney General's Department.
Keppetiwalana has also been implicated in the murder of Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickramathunga and an assault on another journalist Upali Thennekoon.
