Sri Lanka's major opposition United National Party (UNP) Polonnaruwa district MP Earl Gunasekara says that his party must support the proposed to the Constitution.
He said he'll express his views at the next party parliamentary group meeting.
The opposition MP argued that the amendment to remove the two term restriction on the presidential terms would benefit the UNP since the incumbent President loses the popularity each year and becomes a less challenge to the UNP than a newcomer.
The UNP has decided to vote against the amendments.
