The State government on Thursday issued an order revoking the suspension of C. Umashankar, formerly Commissioner of Small Savings, Chennai.
The Government Order, dated September 2, 2010, said since an inquiry had been initiated into the genuineness of his Scheduled Caste Community Certificate, the government under the powers conferred by rules 3 (7) (c) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, considered and revoked the suspension with effect from the afternoon of September 2, 2010. The period of suspension shall be regulated on the outcome of the inquiry and disciplinary proceedings initiated against him.
Consequent to the revocation of suspension, the services of Mr. Umashankar was placed at the disposal of the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation Limited for appointment as its Managing Director in the place of N.S. Palaniappan, holding additional charge.
The government also directed that the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Department, shall function as Chairman, Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation Limited, in the place of Mr. Palaniappan, holding additional charge. The government declared that the post of Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation Limited, is equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the order said.
