Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti today (8) said his privileges as a public representative were violated by the Maharagama Police.
Handunnetti raising a privileges issue in parliament said the Officer-In-Charge of Maharagama Police and four other officers had entered his office in Maharagama without a warrant and searched the premises claiming they had received a tip that there were posters against the President being stored in the premises.
The MP said the police had during the search gone through his personal files and computer data violating his privileges as a legislator.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said the matter will be forwarded to the parliamentary privileges committee.
