Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today that the development should fulfill the public aspirations and public should be satisfied with the facilities they entertain.
The President made these observations at a ceremony held in Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha Sunday to declare open the newly constructed administrative building at a cost of Rs. 28 million.
The first phase of the new building consists of a new conference hall, the main administrative center, Hanwella sub-office and a committee office.
The President also said that the government had identified the public needs and would work hard to fulfill them.
The President reiterated the promise to electrify each household in the island as mentioned in the Mahinda Chinthana Policy manifesto. He said that the constructions of Norochcholai and Upper Kothmale power plants were accelerated to meet this end.
The President also highlighted that harbor expansion projects in, Colombo, Galle, Kankasanthurai, Oluwil are successfully underway together with the Hambanthota new harbor construction project.
Venerable Maha Sangha, Ministers Bandula Gunawardena, Dinesh Gunawardena, Geethanjana Gunawardena, and Gamini Lokuge, Chief Minister of Western Province Prasanna Ranatunga, Seethawaka SLFP organizer Sumith Wijayamuni de Soysa and Chairman of the Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha, attorney-at-law Ravindra Jayasinghe participated in the event.
