Arjun Munda to be sworn in as Jharkhand CM on Sept 11

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Arjun Munda is to be sworn in chief minister of Jharkhand on September 11 along with deputy chief ministers Sudesh Mahato and Hemant Soren.
As per the fresh arrangement, the new coalition will have two deputy chief ministers — Soren's son Hemant and AJSU leader Sudesh Mahato. The BJP has also decided to keep the post of Speaker for itself.

Munda is scheduled to seek vote of confidence in Jharkhand assembly on September 14.

An assertive BJP chief brushed aside reservations expressed by senior leaders to ink a fresh power-sharing deal with Shibu Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Munda's claim that he has the support of 43 MLAs belonging to BJP (18), JMM (18), All Jharkhand Students' Union (5) and JD-U (2) as well as two Independents, has been held to be correct by governor M O H Farooq, clearing the way for him to start his third chief ministerial innings in Ranchi.

Former chief minister Arjun Munda was yesterday elected the leader of BJP Legislature Party in Jharkhand as the party decided to stake claim along with allies JMM and AJSU to form a new government.

Munda was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature at an urgent meeting convened on Tuesday morning after incumbent Raghuvar Das quit from the post.
