Sri Lanka minor opposition party denies claims of supporting the government

Sri Lanka's Democratic People's Front (DPF) denied reports that its member and parliamentarian Praba Ganesan had extended his support to the government after a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees Thursday.



"The leadership of the Democratic People's Front strongly denies the news and claim that DPF Colombo District parliamentarian Praba Ganesan has joined the government," a statement released by the General Secretary of the DPF Dr. Nalliah Kumaraguruparan after a discussion with DPF Leader Mano Ganesan,. who is currently overseas, stated.
"In fact Praba Ganesan attended a meeting at the Temple Trees for a discussion on local government electoral reforms at the invitation of the Temple Trees, this cannot be interpreted in any manner relation to joining the government. The DPF never decided on any such move and. always abides by the people's mandate given, "it further stated.
According to Dr. Kumaraguruparan, "Praba would never betray the Tamil people and go against the mandate given to him.".
