Sri Lanka climbs to third place in ICC rankings

Following yesterday's thrilling win against India and clinching the Micromax Tri-series involving India and New Zealand, Sri Lanka has moved up three notches on the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table.

An International Cricket Council (ICC) release said Kumar Sangakkara's team had been placed in sixth position prior to the series but now sits proudly in third, level on points with India and South Africa. All three teams are tied with 115 points when figures rounded up.

Sri Lanka is just behind India, which clings on to second place, and just in front of South Africa, which drops to fourth, when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.

With yesterday's match-winning performance of 110 against India, Tillakaratne Dilshan has climbed to the fourth place in level with Hashim Amla of South Africa at the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen. India's Virender Sehwag has placed at the 8th place following the final of the tri-nation series.

Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga who took seven wickets in the series at an average of less than 20 has gained 24 places and is back into the top 20 of the rankings.
