Sri Lanka's PBOA rules out bus fare hike any time soon

Sri Lanka's Private Bus Owners' Association (PBOA) Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne has ruled out any increase in bus fares in the near future.
He has told the local media that the Association would decide on any possible increase only after a full review of the issue.



Wijeratne has meanwhile urged the National Transport Commission (NTC) to release the pricing formula.
Wijeratne's comments were made in the backdrop of a reported threat by another association, the All-Island Bus Owners Association, to launch an island-wide strike if the minimum fare was not increased by one rupee to Rs. 7.
