Sri Lanka's NFF Leader resigns from ministerial portfolio

Sri Lanka's National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader Wimal Weerawansa today (9) resigned from the ministerial portfolio of Housing, Construction and Engineering Services.



NFF sources confirmed to ColomboPage that the letter of resignation was handed in today morning and the President was also informed of the decision.
Weerawansa has stated in his letter of resignation that he would continue with the protest campaign against the UN panel of experts and did not wish to place the government in any difficulty due to his position as a Cabinet minister in the government.

However, sources say the President has refused to accept the Minister's resignation.
