Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) Reforms Committee headed by parliamentarian Joseph Michael Perera is to hand over the final report on the party reforms to UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe tomorrow (05) morning.
Speaking to ColomboPage, Perera said the committee at its meeting on Thursday (01) had decided to submit the report to the party leadership on Monday.
When asked if the final report would contain any new reform proposals than those presented earlier, Perera declined to comment but observed that there could be additional proposals included in the report following the consultations with a large number of party members on the matter.
The Reforms Committee held a series of consultations with UNP legislators, provincial councilors, local government members, and associations affiliated with the party.
"The committee decided not to comment on any of the reforms until the report is handed over to the party leadership and Working Committee approves them. However, there could be additional reform proposals included in the final report," Perera said.
The report once approved by the Working Committee is to be placed before the party convention scheduled for August.
