Sri Lanka's Health Ministry has assigned a special team consisting of three specialists to the Badulla Hospital to investigate the death of a female doctor from dengue fever.
According to Health Ministry officials, father of the deceased Dr. Nadeeka Lakmali Wijenayake had informed the President that the doctor had died due to negligence on the part of the hospital staff.
The President yesterday had issued instructions to the relevant authorities to provide him with an immediate report on her death.
The 31-year-old pediatric doctor who had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Badulla General Hospital died on Sunday from the disease according to hospital authorities.
