A Sri Lankan court has ordered the exhumation of the body of a midwife who died under mysterious circumstances in the North last week.
Darshika Saravanan, 27, a midwife at Velanai hospital was found dead in her room in the official quarters on July 11.
The Kayts magistrate K Wasanthanesan has ordered the exhumation of the body and has called for the submission of a fresh JMO report on the death to court on July 28.
Darshika's mother had filed a petition to court on Monday (19) seeking exhumation and fresh medical examination of her daughter's remains.
The Jaffna High Court last Friday granted bail to the doctor who was arrested earlier on suspicion of the midwife's death.
Hospital sources say the victim had an argument with the doctor the night before she was found dead.
