Sri Lanka private bus owners threaten to strike from Monday

Association of private omnibus owners of Sri Lanka has threatened to strike form midnight next Monday and remove private buses from the routes of the Western Province.

The reason for the strike is the increase of route permit charges and other license fees by the Western Province Passenger Transport Authority.
The private bus owners have given time to the authorities until Monday to revoke their decision.
The Chairman of the association Gemunu Wijerathna says that the bus owners will seek the support of the long distance bus operators for the strike.
Private buses are the major passenger transport service of Sri Lanka.
