Sri Lanka Police find four members of a family hacked to death in Eppawela

Sri Lanka Police today (14) found four members of a family hacked to death in their home in Eppawela in the Anuradhapura District.



The police who found the bodies this morning said that among the dead were a middle aged couple and their two children.
One of the victims, a shop manager had failed to report to work without notice and the owner of the shop had alerted some family members who had alerted the police.
The police had carried out a check and found the bodies when the neighbors had complained of a strong smell emanating from the house.
The police Prishantha Jayakody said the victims were found in different rooms of the house and they were appeared to be stabbed and slashed.
The victims have been identified as K.A Dayarathna (48), Malini Jayasinghe (42), Ajani Udeshika (17) and Dishan Dayarathna (13), according to Daily Mirror online.
A relative of the family who was living with the family has been missing and the police suspect the youth of the murders.
Thabuththegama Additional Magistrate Kithsiri Mahinda Silva has conducted a magisterial inquiry and ordered the police to arrest the missing youth immediately.
