A legislator from Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) said today that he would vote in favor of the budget along with the government when the vote on the second reading of the budget is taken at 6 p.m. today.
UNP Kandy District parliamentarian Abdul Cader told parliament today that he has been denied time from his party to speak during the debate on the second reading of the budget, as Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga had struck his name off the list of speakers.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne said he was willing to allocate 15 minutes of his time to Cader.
Cader said that he would use the time allocated by the government and that he will be voting in support of the budget.
