Sri Lanka Navy goes door-to-door campaigning for dengue prevention

Sri Lanka Navy is taking part in the Dengue Prevention Program conducted by the Ministry of the Defence with the assistance of Tri Forces and the Police.


About 150 naval personnel from SLNS Parakrama and SLNS Rangala in the Western Naval Area have joined government officials and STF personnel yesterday and went door-to-door in Kaudana area of Dehiwala to clear the mosquito breading places in the area and educate people on how to prevent dengue epidemic from spreading.
On the instructions of the government, personnel from the three forces, army, Navy and Air Force and Police are to join the civil authorities to clear the mosquito breeding grounds in and around the city of Colombo and across the country.
Sri Lanka's health authorities have sought the assistance of the three armed forces and police to control the fast spreading dengue menace in the country as the death toll from the disease climbed to 164 from 22,159 reported cases.
