A popular South Indian Tamil comedian has lodged a complaint with the Indian police about the alleged threats received by him warning against his intended visit to Sri Lanka.
The India media today reported that South Indian Tamil actor Karunas has lodged a complaint stating that he had received threats from cadres claiming to be of the pro-LTTE Tamil film director Seeman-led Nam Thamizhar Iyakkam party, warning him against his plans to visit the Kandy Kathirgamar Temple in Sri Lanka.
The actor had said in his petition that he had planned to visit the Kandy Kathirgamar Temple to fulfill a religious vow since his ancestors were from Sri Lanka.
According to Karunaas, he had scheduled the trip to Kandy with his family today and had already booked flight tickets.
He said he had been receiving phone calls and text messages from people claiming to be part of the pro-LTTE Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam, warning him to cancel his Lankan trip.
Meanwhile, the Naam Thamizhar party has denied any involvement in the alleged threats.
