Sajith eyes Karu’s post after giving up party leadership hopes

UNP parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa, who has now given up the idea of fighting for the party leadership, is now eyeing the party’s deputy leadership post, reliable sources told  Web.

Several astrologers have advised Sajith not to accept the party leadership for the next three years and to take over the position after the period. Sajith has therefore decided not to contest for the party leadership at present.
In order to arrive at a consensus on the matter several Sajith supporters like Joseph Michael Perera and Kabir Hashim were to meet for a
discussion at deputy leader Karu Jayasruiya’s residence on Sunday (18).
Karu told the media several days earlier that he would not take part in any group or faction to fight for posts in the party and that he was happy to serve the party from any position offered to him by the party.
It is learnt that the UNP Leader had requested Karu to remain in the deputy leadership post after hearing the comment. Meanwhile, many party organizers have requested Karu to take the lead in bringing peace to the party without walking out.
