A Regional Industry Services Centre was established in the Northern Province to coordinate the process of industrial development in the region.
The centre is located in Vavuniya and was opened by Prime Minister DM Jayaratne on Sunday morning.
The centre will assist small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the Northern Province by closely studying their issues and providing them with solutions.
The coordinating effort in connection with the 100 industries program in the Northern Province will also be implemented through the newly established centre.
Setting up 100 industries and bringing in more local and foreign investments to the region will certainly help to mitigate the unemployment problem in the North. It will also improve the quality of life and enhance living standards.
