Chief Incumbent of Sanchi Vihara discusses progress of the proposed International Buddhist University with President

The Chief Incumbent of Sanchi Vihara and also the Sangha Nayake of Japan Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thera Vihara presented the Project Report of the proposed International Buddhist University at Sanchi to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees on Friday (09). Additional Secretary Gamini Senarath was also present during the discussion.



Ven. Upatissa Thera explaining the progress of the project to President Rajapaksa informed that the construction work of the International Buddhist University at Sanchi will commence later this year.
During the visit of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan last month it was announced that Sri Lanka and India will jointly set up an International Buddhist University in Sanchi of India's Madhya Pradesh.
The establishment of the proposed University will be a joint venture involving the Indian and Sri Lankan governments, the Madhya Pradesh state government, and the Maha Bodhi society.
