Ceylon Electricity Board losses nearly Rs. 12 trillion over 9 years

Sri Lanka major opposition United National Party Colombo district MP Ravi Karunanayaka questioned in the parliament yesterday how much loss state-owned power monopoly Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had incurred.



In response to this question Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the loss incurred by CEB in the past 9 years was Rs. 11,670 billion.

The CEB lost over 1.1 billion rupees in the last year alone, the Minister said.
