Central Bank opens branch in Sri Lanka's Northern Province

Sri Lanka's Central Bank Sunday opened a provincial office of the Bank in the country's war-battered Northern Province.



The ceremonial opening of the Central Bank's newest provincial office took place in Jaffna on Sunday with the participation of Governor of Northern Province, Major General G.A. Chandrasiri as the chief guest. Central Bank Deputy Governor K.G.D.D. Dheerasinghe accompanied the Governor.

This is the fourth provincial office of the Central Bank. It currently operates provincial offices in the Southern, North-Central and Central Provinces.
A primary function of the provincial office is to implement the development oriented loan schemes introduced by the Bank in the respective provinces.
