A Sri Lankan court today (28) ordered authorities to provide former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Retired General Sarath Fonseka with special security and a special army vehicle to transport him to and from courts.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has said that General Fonseka, currently under military detention, should be transported in a special army vehicle and not in the prison bus.
The Magistrate has also ordered that General Fonseka's family be allowed to give him food as opposed to the prison food due to his medical complications.
The lawyer appearing for General Fonseka, who is charged with the Hicorp fraud, has informed the court that the General was not provided with special security as previously ordered.
The Magistrate postponed the hearing until July 12.
