Sri Lankan government authorities have salvaged the vehicles left behind by the civilians fleeing from fighting during the height of the war and distributed them to the rightful owners recently.
At a function held in Kilinochchi with the participation of Northern Province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, the authorities handed over 350 Motor bikes, 3 canters and 2 tractors to their owners.
Over 7,000 abandoned vehicles and 14,000 bicycles are kept in the Kachcheri yard in Kilinochchi and officials are taking steps to repair them and find the owners for those vehicles, the authorities said.
