Accounts of Danuna Tilakaratne confiscated by Colombo magistrate

Colombo Fort magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayarathna today ordered confiscation of seven accounts belonged to Danuna Tilakaratne, the son-in-law of former Sri Lanka Army Commander and defeated presidential candidate retired General Sarath Fonseka.

The amount of money that is to be confiscated from these accounts is over Rs. 15 million.
Both Tilakaratne and Fonseka are indicted on charges of corruption in military procurements through Hicorp International, a company linked to Tilakaratne.
The magistrate had earlier ordered on May 26 for Tilakaratne to appear before the court within 30 days. He was also declared a person wanted by judiciary.
Tilakaratne failed to appear in court and the magistrate ordered confiscation of his accounts when the case was summoned today.
