Navy Commander observes naval flood relief operations



May 22,  Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe Friday evening visited the inundated areas in the Western Province and observed the progress of ongoing flood relief operations conducted by naval teams.

The Navy Commander visited Modara, Seeduwa, Raddolugama and Dikovita areas and met both naval teams assisting the flood victims and the distressed civilians.
The Sri Lanka Navy has deployed its personnel and craft as a response to the heavy flood situation.
In Gampaha district the Navy has deployed 23 naval teams and 22 naval craft to assist the flood victims. Special naval teams have been dispatched to the hard-hit areas of Wattala, Negombo, Gampaha, and Katana for emergency operations.
