Sri Lankan government to present Vote-on-Account for the six months commencing from May

Sri Lankan government is preparing a mini budget for the six months for the period between July to December this year a senior minister said.

The Minister told the media yesterday (23) that the period from May to June would be covered with another Vote-on-Account.

The 2011 budget is to be presented as usual in November and is expected to include details of the development programme as outlined in part two of the Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma manifesto of the governing United People's Freedom Alliance.

The Health Minister and Sri Lanka Freedom party General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena addressing the media said the new government hoped to remove the stumbling blocks that hindered electoral, institutional and economic development in the country.

He said the electoral reforms would be introduced in the next few months. Minister Sirisena observed that the constitutional amendments were aimed at transforming Sri Lanka during the next six years.
