Sri Lanka Foreign Minister holds bilateral discussions with his SAARC counterparts


Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris participating in the 32nd session of the SAARC Council of Ministers on Tuesday (27) in the Bhutanese capital of Thimpu held bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the meeting with his counterparts from the region.

Prof. Peiris apprised the foreign ministers of India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan of Sri Lanka's development programs and discussed the ways to strengthen bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and their respective countries.
During the first bilateral meeting held with Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering the two ministers discussed matters of mutual interest. Minister Peiris praised the Government of Bhutan for successfully holding the Summit and the warm welcome accorded to the Sri Lankan President and his delegation.

Hambanthota District parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and Foreign Affairs Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe accompanied the Foreign Minister at the discussions.
