In the wake of the alleged killing of two students from Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today talked to his Tamil Nadu counterpart M Karunanidhi seeking protection for those studying in various deemed universities there.
Kumar talked to his counterpart in Chennai and to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and sought protection for students from Bihar and said that 'anti-Bihari' sentiments should be nipped in the bud.
The move came after the parents of Ashish Ranjan, a student of Annamalai Engineering College in Tamil Nadu, complained to the authority here that he was missing from the college premises for the past few days.
Security for students from Bihar studying in Chennai should be beefed up, Kumar said and directed the Home Secretary Aamir Subhani and Director General of Police, Neelmani to contact their counterparts in Chennai and inform him about the latest situation.
