PMK to take part in world Tamil meet

Chennai, Oct 22 PMK today announced it would participate in the World Tamil Classical Conference to be organised by the Tamil Nadu government in Coimbatore next June, accepting the invitation from Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Replying to Karunanidhi's letter to leaders of parties in the assembly seeking cooperation for the success of the four-day conference, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss said his party would announce at the appropriate time its representatives for committees to be formed for the meet.

He welcomed Karunanidhi's remark that there was no political motive behind the convening of the meet.

PMK's support to the conference came days after its erstwhile ally AIADMK announced its boycott on the ground that it was not in the series of International Association for Tamil Research (IATR's) 'World Tamil Conference'.

Ramadoss said he did not want to join the debate over the conference.
