Union Minister K V Thomas, today said the Mullaperiyar issue over which Kerala and Tamil Nadu were locked in a war of words, should be tackled with care and caution.
Asked about Kerala commencing the survey to construct a new dam, Thomas told newsmen here that the issue between the two neighbouring states should be tackled with care because there are lots of Keralites living in Tamil Nadu who had invested in that state.
Vegetables and poultry products come from Tamil Nadu, the Union minister of state for agriculture added.
Tamil Nadu opposed construction of a new reservoir in place of the 113-year-old existing one and also Centre's permission for conducting the survey. Tamil Nadu has also moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the survey.
